Job Description 

Bramley Care is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to assist in managing our day-to-day accounting for our two care homes and our home care agency. Confidentiality, excellent organisational skills and accuracy are important for this position, as well as the ability to communicate clearly. The ideal candidate for this position is a reliable skilled multi-tasker committed to consistently meeting deadlines. Tasks include;

  • Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
  • Coordinate bank deposits and report financial results on a regular basis to management
  • Pay invoices, track bank account balances and reconcile control accounts
  • Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, management accounts

Qualifications and experience

  • Professional Account (AAT) qualification or equivalent to NVQ Level 4 in Accounting
  • At least two years’ experience of working in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll and payroll reports
  • Excellent knowledge of Sage-50 computer-based accounting systems and procedures
  • Knowledge of monthly “Nest” pension submissions
  • Advanced use of MS Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Experience in services related to payroll such as submitting payroll taxes

Skills

  • Excellent communication, organisational and numerical skills
  • Experience with dealing with Local Authorities and grant submission 
  • Methodical approach and ability to maintain accurate and transparent data systems
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, approachable, dependable, tenacious and confidential
  • Able to demonstrate periodic training needs to update own knowledge, skills and competence
  • Sound work ethics, be consistent, flexible, adaptable and able to work effectively and independently
  • Experience in the care sector is an advantage
