The Great Bramley Bake Off at Bramley House
Life at Bramley House in Mere has always been about making people feel at home - and what better way to do that than through food? This autumn, we were excited to launch our very own Great Bramley Bake Off, led by our new Head Chef, Liam.

Liam brings passion, creativity, and a love of home-style cooking to Bramley House. From the moment he joined, he’s been sitting down with residents to talk about the recipes that matter most to them - from treasured family bakes to hearty traditional meals. His mission is simple: to create food that feels like home.

Already, the kitchen has been filled with the smell of cinnamon and apples thanks to a resident’s cherished apple cake recipe. As the cake was sliced and shared in the orangery, memories of orchards, harvest festivals and Sunday teas flowed as freely as the tea itself. “Cooking here isn’t just about ingredients,” Liam says, “it’s about the stories behind them.”

The Great Bramley Bake Off is about connection. Residents are encouraged to share their favourite recipes so Liam and the team can recreate them for everyone to enjoy. For those in Garden View, our specialist dementia wing, these sensory experiences are especially powerful, helping to unlock memories and spark conversation.

At Bramley House, food doesn’t just feed the body - it feeds the soul.

Gold Standards Framework Accreditation
Bramley Home Care has been awarded a national Gold Standards Framework Quality Hallmark Award in recognition of the excellent end of life care they provide. Gold Standards Framework provides end of life care training and accreditation for frontline staff in health and social care.
Bramley Home Care was one of five domiciliary care agencies from across the country receiving the award at the Gold Standards Framework annual conference and awards ceremony on Friday 27th September at BMA House in London.
Rob Blackman, Registered Manager of Bramley Home Care said: “This highly prestigious award demonstrates our commitment to delivering the very highest standards of end-of-life care.”
Julie Armstrong-Wilson, Chief Operating Officer for Gold Standards Framework said: “Congratulations to all the organisations who have successfully achieved accreditation and received the Quality Hallmark Award this year. The standard of care and compassionate cultures that have been observed is truly inspiring, showing a commitment to ensuring people receive the right care at the right time which has a positive impact on the people cared for and their families. Listening to what matters most to each and every individual and providing care in accordance with their goals, wishes and preferences is the Gold Standard and these organisations are delivering it. The Gold Standards Framework team are so very proud of all our Award Winners; with our ageing population it is so important we enable them to live well and when the time comes deliver quality care in their final year / days of life. A huge well done to you all!”

Bramley Care Training Centre recently had the privilege of hosting the transformative Virtual Dementia Tour Bus Experience. This innovative virtual dementia simulator provides a scientifically and medically validated way for individuals with healthy brains to experience the challenges of living with dementia. Participants have the opportunity to step into the world of those affected by dementia, gaining insights into how simple adjustments in their practices and environments can significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals with this condition.
Carers from the Shaftesbury area were invited to attend this impactful training session, led by Tony from Experience Training Ltd.
