Job description

Introduction

Bramley Home Care Ltd is an established and fully regulated home care agency providing quality care in our local community. We are a family run business and we pride ourselves on the standard of care we deliver. We are only as good as our team and so you will be continuously trained and supported to develop your career which can see you being promoted through Team Leader to Registered Manager. We will also listen to you and will try to accommodate shifts around school hours and other commitments that you may have.

Caring is all about providing physical, emotional and social support to help people live their lives independently and with dignity and control.

To get a better understanding of this, meet Nancy. Nancy is 80 years and shows symptoms of early onset Dementia. Although not yet diagnosed, Nancy has been having difficulty with her memory and sometimes needs help with day-to-day tasks like washing, shopping and reminders to pay bills on time: tasks she’s previously been able to do with no problems. Her husband Fred, has recently had a fall and we’ve had to do more for him than we would do normally and also take him to hospital to visit his wife.

When Fred returns home, we support them both with all aspects of their day to day living, including social and physical activities, personal care, mobility and mealtimes.

Nancy needs prompting to take her medication and assistance with meals. Fred needs help getting washed and dressed in the morning and getting into bed safely at night. They also have a visit a week to do some domestic chores.

As Fred's mobility deteriorates and he develops complications, specialist nurses are brought in who train us to carry out tasks on their behalf. These are called delegated tasks and can include, giving insulin, wound care, catheter care or supporting a person to use a crisis plan for their mental health.
